Remember Risky Business?

Tom Cruise is great. I can’t think of a better example of The American Type.

As I said in my last article, America is ISTP.

In addition to that, it is an enneatype 3 ISTP. For those that understand enneagram, great. For those that don’t, Google is your friend. 🙂

Winning. That is what America is all about. That is what the movie Risky Business is about.

For those who haven’t seen this excellent movie, it is about a boy who is on the cusp of becoming A MAN.

Joel (Tom Cruise’s character) lives with his parents in a very nice neighborhood.

For his parents, it is all about Joel getting into the best college, in this case, Princeton.

Joel is in that strange position of being a marginal achiever. He hasn’t quite done Ivy League level work that would get him into Princeton.

The basic premise of this movie comes down to the one-liner:

Sometimes you gotta say what the fuck?

The movie is all about taking a risk. It is the risk that is the most important element in success…
